STABILITY IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

By: PASTOR BRAD PAETKAU - COMMUNITY CARE PASTOR
Greetings, what a wonderful time to be alive and in the presence of the Lord.

In praying about what to write for this blog the Lord brought me back to what He was showing me in June.

In this time that we currently live in, Craig Groeschel describes this as the time of PUC: Pain, uncertainty and chaos. During this time it can be extremely stressful looking for stability in life. Like many of you, I have had times of feeling overwhelmed with all the uncertainty and chaos going on in this world.

Back in June, Linda and myself were blessed to be able to spend a few days in Hinton and Jasper National Park. During that time God would not let me get past the first few verses of Psalm 91. I have read this chapter many times and have stood on it for healing and protection but God was taking me to a new level of understanding. Throughout the week God had me meditate on Psalm 91- especially verses 1&2. I would like to share with you some of what God was showing me and I trust you will be blessed as much as I have been.

Psalm 91:1-2 (amp)
HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [whose no foe can withstand].
I will say if the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [ confidently] trust!

What a powerful statement! Let's look at it closer.

Verse 1
HE WHO [ now I am not a tech person but I do know that when a whole word is capitalized, that there is a high emphasis on that word. Here we see both words capitalized. Who is it that is being talked about? God is talking about Me and He is talking about you, so we could make this personal and say, ME WHO. ]

ME WHO dwells [the meaning of dwells is, live in or at a specified place . This is not someplace that you visit once a week or when in trouble but this  is your home. ]

in the secret place of the Most High. [ In the secret place, this implies that not everyone will get there. It takes time and effort on our behalf to enter this secret place that not everyone is even looking for.

I know this is not really a word but if you are in the secret place of the Most High, there is not  a 'most-er' high or a 'mostest' high god. God is THE MOST HIGH. There is nobody higher.

I hope you are starting to see a personal declaration starting to form.

[Remember.] ME WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed.

God knew there would be chaos and stress in our lives but He has also given us a way to have stability and peace through it all. As we dwell in Him, He said we would remain stable and fixed. This is not occasionally or once in a while, but we should remain. Remain where? Under the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no foe can withstand].

God also says [ Whose power no foe can withstand].

There is no enemy,  no demonic attack that can possibly stand against us when we are dwelling in Him. On the outside it may look like hell is winning but on the inside we know God will have His say.

 Verse 2
I will say if the Lord.

This is a very important aspect of this process. We are not talking God into doing anything that He has not already said He wants to do. So why do you say, this is because we are declaring Gods word over our lives, saying Gods word is more important than whatever situation we may be going through. Gods word wins. When we make this personal, our inner self receives and holds onto our confession more than what anyone else confesses over us.

  So what are we saying?

  He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God;

God not only wants to be our hiding place but also that walled place of peace. That place where no foe can prevail. It is interesting that in this translation Refuge and Fortress are both capitalized. This is more than a house or a building, this is God! God can be called by the name of my Refuge, my Fortress.

On Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!

Here we see what we must do, no matter what it looks like around us or what situation we are going through. We need to lean on, rely on and confidently trust. This might seem like an impossible task but as with everything about God, it requires a concrete decision - one that can not be moved, and to believe what He says.

I was recently talking with a friend who stated that Gods way seemed like the odd way of life, and how the world works is the normal way of life. Then he had the revelation of, what if Gods way of doing things was the normal way of life and how the world is operating is the odd way how would that change our outlook on life. The world is saying do this, do that and you will have a normal life again, God says remain in Him and you will have your stability in uncertain times.

God knew that there would be uncertain times, times of great stress but He loves us so much that He showed us a way to remain stable and fixed through it all.

The only way to have stability in this world is to dwell in Him.

 Lets declare:
ME WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High, (I) shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]
I will say if You Lord , You are my Refuge and my Fortress, You are my God and on You I lean and rely, and in you I confidently trust.

I trust this has helped with your walk with God or has strengthened it.   God bless may your life be ever more enriched in His secret place.
